Yes those were the elements of the film that touched me the most. While watching I found myself thinking of my own relationsip with my dad, and how so many of my own memories are so indelibly linked to the music that is so important to me. Not a perfect movie by any means, but there was so much good about it that I have to recommend it.

Edit: ugh I hate this threaded comment system. Now it looks like I was responding to Kochman, when I was actually responding to Staggerlieb's earlier posting

I enjoyed this film immensely and it moved me to tears more than once. The acting was perfect and truly beautiful in many memorable scenes. Incredible story with so many personal connections for me. I wish I could watch it today with my dad.
